History of Spring Branch Baptist Church
Spring Branch Baptist Church was organized in 1872, in the home of Mr. Joe Sandifer, who resided on the Spring Branch Road. The first church was constructed of logs. In the year 1890, a wooden frame church was begun and completed in 1912.
In December, 1949 this building was torn down and a brick building was constructed. During the years from 1872 to 1916, eighteen pastors served the church. At one time, services were held on Saturday and later changed to the first and third Sunday. In April, 1959, the church called Rev. Billy B. Nelson as their first pastor. During his ministry, an annex was added to the church and the pastorium was built. An educational building was built in 1973. On June 21, 1976, the church building burned. Services were continued in the educational building. The first Sunday in October, 1977, the first service was held in the present building.
